Collaborating with UN Women to promote Women’s Economic Empowerment

The Mexico home credit division of International Personal Finance (IPF) has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UN Women, underscoring the Group's commitment to advancing gender equality and financial inclusion in one of its largest markets. By aligning with the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs), a set of guidelines for advancing gender equality, IPF joins the ranks of global leaders such as EY, Danone, PayPal and Mastercard.

With more than 90% of Provident Mexico’s customer representatives and nearly 70% of its customer base being women, this partnership marks a significant milestone in IPF's responsible business journey and will ensure a more inclusive and equitable workplace.

The collaboration will deliver impact across three priority areas:

  1. Economic empowerment of women in disaster-affected areas: More than 1,500 women in Oaxaca and the State of Mexico will gain access to training  to help them develop and manage sustainable businesses. This supports long-term community resilience and aligns with IPF's purpose to increase financial inclusion in underserved communities.
  2. Internal organisational transformation: UN Women will provide assistance to strengthen the Group's corporate gender policies tp [rp,pte equitable working conditions and opportunities for professional development. Over 150 customer represenetatives will also receive  training in leadership and in preventing, detecting and referring of violence against women.
  3. Societal and cultural change: Provident and UN Women will jointly implement public awareness campaigns to challenge harmful gender stereotypes and promote gender equality, contributing to wider social transformation in Mexico.

UN Women and Provident will work together to advance the financial inclusion of women entrepreneurs and gender equality in Mexico.”
