IPF’s Mother’s Shelter recognised with two ESG awards

IPF’s consumer finance business in Poland has been recognised by two leading ESG organisations for its Mother’s Shelter - a unique, long-term social initiative supporting female refugees with children fleeing the war in Ukraine

The Polish ESG Association honored the Mother’s Shelter, run by IPF's Polish operation Provident Polska, with its ESG Platinum Innovator award in the “S – Social Innovations” category.  The independent award panel recognised the Shelter as a long-term, socially valuable project that is not only providing a safe place to live but also offering psychological care, Polish language lessons and other support activities for its residents.  The ESG Innovator competition promotes ESG best practice and sustainable development. It has three categories: E – Environmental Innovations, S – Social Innovations and G – Corporate Governance Innovations. Other award winners included Microsoft, BNP Paribas, British American Tobacco and Jeronimo Martins.

Provident Polska was also presented with the "DNA - because helping is in our genes" award at the Polish ESG Power of Business Congress (ESG Polska Moc Biznesu Congress).  The event gathered speakers from public institutions, universities, business, media and NGOs to discuss key social, economic, environmental and business management issues. The award recognised Provident Polska’s support to people from  Ukraine through the Mother’s Shelter and the work our business is undertaking to help women and children refugees.

The Shelter stands as an important example of being positively active in our communities to build a better world through supporting local causes that are important to those communities.  The creation of the Mother’s Shelter project took less than a month to complete, from choosing the building and renovating the facility to opening its doors to refugee families . The renovation works were carried out by more than 70 volunteer colleagues who work for Provident Polska alongside professional tradespeople using funds raised by employees across the IPF Group.
