Making a difference together

Around 1,200 colleagues at International Personal Finance plc (IPF) joined forces in May to take part in the Group’s global volunteering month, helping thousands of people and raising £35,000 for good causes.

Employees and agents working in 11 countries volunteered to take part in a range of community, environmental and fundraising projects throughout May.  At the core of the initiative was The Provident Run where more than 500 colleagues completed a 5.5km run,  individually or in small groups, to raise funds for local charities.  Other acts of kindness included volunteering to build a children’s summer camp, toy collections, blood donations and community tree planting.

·     In Poland, 120 runners raised more than £6,000 for a local foundation supporting terminally ill children.  Members of the team also planted 100 shrubs in a garden for children with disabilities and collected litter.

·     In Hungary, more than 100 colleagues ran, walked and cycled to raise money for disadvantaged children.  Another group collected bottle caps to fundraise for specialist treatment for a young child.

·     Colleagues in the Czech Republic raised more than £4,000 after signing up and taking part in a sports challenge to support two children’s shelters.

·     In Mexico, 420 volunteers contributed to a range of activities including toy collections for more than 400 children to celebrate Children’s Day, setting up two computer labs that will be used my 200 children and raised money to support NGO’s helping children with cancer.

·     The IPF Digital team focused their efforts on a Month of Good Deeds with volunteers accomplishing 140 different activities including planting trees, donating blood and litter collecting, as well as raising £12,000 to donate to local charities

·     In the UK, colleagues supported Smart Works, a charity that offers clothes and interview assistance to women seeking work.

Commenting on the initiative, Gergely Mikola, Group Head of Corporate Affairs said: “Our IPF volunteers across the globe made a tremendous contribution during Volunteering Month.  Despite the challenges of the pandemic, they proved once again that together we can make a difference in people’s lives and our communities.  I’d like to say a big thank you to all our volunteers.”
