Provident named Best Non-Bank Financial Institution in Romania

Provident Financial Romania, part of International Personal Finance plc, is pleased to announce it has been named the Best Non-Bank Financial Institution (NBFI) of 2017 by Financial Market magazine.  The award, which was announced at the Financial Market Awards Gala last week, was presented to Provident Financial Romania in recognition of its commitment to responsible lending.

The Financial Market Awards are held annually, and recognise the best financial services companies in Romania. The event is organised by Financial Market magazine, a national business magazine dedicated to the financial services sector.

It is the second time Provident Financial Romania has been recognised at the Financial Market Awards, having previously won Best NBFI in 2015.

Provident Financial Romania was recognised for its responsible approach to consumer finance and its ‘Responsible Lending’ campaign was commended for raising awareness of financial products and how to make responsible credit decisions.

Viktor Boczán, General Manager, Provident Financial Romania, commented, “We’re very pleased to be recognised as the Best NBFI in Romania. Since we launched in 2006 we have served over one million customers and are proud to be an important part of a well-functioning credit market that promotes economic and social mobility by providing underbanked consumers with an entry point into mainstream consumer finance.

“Consumers, financial providers and intermediaries all need to take responsibility for their role within the financial system and our recent responsible lending campaign helped to educate Romanians on the important part they play.”

For the 12 months ended 31 December 2016, IPF’s Southern European business, which includes Hungary and Romania, had 630,000 customers and credit issued increased year-on-year by 17%.
